An elegant and racy wine

The cultivation of the first vines in our vineyard began in Roman times. This remarkable historic 17th century mansion offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Gironde from its belvedere. It was first used as a summer residence for Louis d’Eyquem, who was related to renowned philosopher Michel Eyquem de Montaigne.

As the owners of this estate since the 20th century, we have restored and expanded the vineyard and completely renovated the Château.

TASTING RESULTS
With cellars located in a former quarry, this estate has a first class vineyard producing a well-structured and refined wine. It has a fine ruby-red color and a powerful bouquet with hints of violet and many of the characteristics of a great wine. Château Eyquem has very good ageing potential and is always very much appreciated by connoisseurs.

An exceptional location

with breathtaking panoramic views

Located on the right bank of the Gironde estuary, this Côtes de Bourg estate’s first vines were planted by the Romans. A prestigious 17th century mansion, Château Eyquem served as a summer residence for Louis d’Eyquem, who was related to renowned philosopher Michel Eyquem de Montaigne.

Based at the confluence of the Dordogne and Garonne rivers, the château overlooks the Gironde estuary’s magnificent landscape. The microclimate derived from the two nearby rivers works to the advantage of the calcareous clay, slightly silty soil.

As the owners of this estate since the 20th century, we have restored and expanded the vineyard and completely renovated the Château. True to our principles regarding the protection of the environment, we operate Château Eyquem in keeping with sustainable agriculture practices.
